    • 5th Grade Virus Week 1

      • Please go to the link below that says "Music Video Games."  Play as many games as you would like.  Next year, all topics will be important, but focus on games under TERMS, NOTE NAMES, RHYTHMS and INTERVALS-SCALES.  Have fun!  Keep track of your games and scores.  Then, email me what games you played and your best scores.  If you have any questions or don't know some answers, you can email me at dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.  I will do whatever I can to help you win those games.  Don't stress!!!!!

      Create your own music! 

      1. Go to this website :  musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/ 
      2. Create your song and save it.  Experiment as much as you want. 
            1. You can change the instruments by clicking on the buttons at the bottom left of screen several times.
            2. Change the tempo by adjusting the line in the middle bottom of screen
            3. Play it back several times to listen to your creation.
      3. Save it and send it to me in an email.  The save button is on the bottom right of page.  When you hit SAVE, it will take you to a page that has a link.  Click on Copy Link  and paste that link in your email.   Send me the link through email:  dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.  If you have any questions, email me.   Can't wait to hear them!!!!!!

          2.  Draw on a piece of paper something in the world that makes either a high sound, low sound, or middle sound.  Be sure to tell me on the paper what sound it makes..(high, low or middle).  For example you could draw a small dog and write high on the paper.

              Rhythm and Note Shapes

              1.  Watch this video: 

              If you have trouble seeing this video, go to YOUTUBE and in the search engine put The Music Show Episode #2: I've Got Rhythm.

              2.  On a piece of blank paper, draw a rhythm with 4 beats.  You can use a combination of notes from the video.  For example, you could draw four quarter notes, or maybe two quarter note and a half note.

                2.  On a piece of blank paper, draw something that makes a Forte sound and something that makes a Piano sound.  Be sure to label which one is which.  It can be anything you can think of in the world or at home.

                • 4th Grade Virus Week 1

                  • Please go to the link below that says Music Video Games Focus on playing games that have something to do with NOTE NAMES or INSTRUMENTS.  Next year, your note names will be very important for you to know.  If you have any questions, email me at dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.  Keep track in a journal about what games you played and what your scores were.  Email me what games you played and what you scored at dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.

                  • Keep entering your FLIPGRID songs.  If you have problems with any of the songs or don't understand, email me.  I will do anything to help you.  If I have to, I will send you your belt in the mail.  Otherwise, I will give it to you at school when I see you.  At a minimum, you need to enter two more songs for these 9 weeks if you haven't done so already.  You may enter as many as you want.  I would LOVE IT!  Remember, if you have problems, email me at dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.  We are in this together...don't stress.

                      Rhythm-Rests

                      2.  Draw a combination of rests that add up to 4 beats DO NOT draw a whole rest.  Remember, it must ONLY add up to 4 beats.  Don't just draw all of the rests.

                                                            I know school is wrapping up and I just want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of you!  You have come through a very historical event stronger than ever.  Thank you so much for doing your music work throughout this time.  I want you to have fun this week.  So, below I have put a few of the websites that you have done over the past weeks.  You choose what you want to do and email me it.  You don't have to just stick to the websites.  If you love to do something else with music (dance, sing, play piano or any instrument, listen to your ipod, etc.) email that activity somehow to dvanvlerah@vbschools.net.   I am so proud to be your music teacher.  I am so blessed to work with students like you.  Always know how special you are and that you have many talents, not just in the "normal" subjects.  Be safe this summer, but have fun!
